Sweeping

Sweeping

We would recommend that you sweep your flues at least once a year. You will find that birds often drop debris into the chimney, some even nesting in there, so sweeping will ensure that your chimney flues are clear of debris and therefore safe.

If you suspect that birds are nesting in your chimney please let us know so that we can act accordingly. Mr Sweep works in clean and tidy way and needs a clear area around the fire for the required equipment to be laid out.

Nest Removal

Nest Removal

Birds and Squirrels can nest in chimneys, so you need to try and be aware of twigs or other such debris which can be a sign.

If you think there could be an issue you must take action as a blockage of this kind in your chimney could prove lethal. It would cause the fumes and smoke to enter the room, rather than going up and out of the chimney.

Simply contact us and we'd be happy to come out and check your chimney.

Smoke Tests

Smoke Tests

It is always wise to conduct a Smoke Test, especially if the fire hasn't been used in recent times and also if you are planning to install a gas fire or wood burning stove.

The smoke test means blocking the chimney at the top and putting smoke to the flue. By watching this we can see if there are any issues which need tackling to ensure a safe fire
